We had a very exciting visit from Tony the Snake last week! Thank you to Colin who brought Tony in to visit and taught us lots about corn snakes. The children and some staff were very brave!!!!
We were delighted to welcome two members of An Garda Siochana to our school on Friday. Garda Briand and Garda Enda, both Community Gardaí talked to all classes about the role of the Gardaí. The children got to try on their hats and jackets and some even had an opportunity to try out some handcuffs!
We had a great day setting up our wormery. A lot of planning and gathering of what was needed was done in advance so we were well prepared! We used water, leaves, cardboard, shredded paper, soil and some waste food.
Huge thank you to Craig from Composting in Schools who gave us great help and advice. The children had mixed feelings on about handling the worms but hopefully the worms are all enjoying their new home now!
The children had great fun investigating for Science Week! There were lots of different experiments carried out as well as some bug hunts.
Thank you to Tara for organising all the experiments.
We had great fun on the Friday before the midterm. The children (and adults!) dressed up and we had a little parade. The parents had coffee and treats and enjoyed the fabulous costumes on display. The children also had fun in their classrooms playing some traditional games
Friday 14th October was DLD Day to raise awareness of Developmental Language Disorder. Everyone dressed in purple and yellow and the children from Tara’s Class gave a little talk to share information about DLD. There may also have been some treats! Well done to Tara’s Class for their excellent presentation.

Tara’s Class and Sinead’s Class both made their versions of pumpkin soup this week. They used the vegetables harvested from the allotment. The smell around the school had everyone’s tummy rumbling!!
Some of the children have had the opportunity to visit the allotment over the last few weeks to gather some of the harvest from all the planting that was done last year! Such an amazing array of fruit and vegetables.
We had Safety Week in Stapolin ETNS from the 19th to the 23rd September. The children discussed and explored lots of different areas of safety.
Nadia from Water Safety Ireland spoke to all classes about the PAWS programme and the importance of Water Safety. Donal from Dublin Fire Brigade spoke to the children about Fire Safety. The children thoroughly enjoyed both speakers! Thank you.
A special thank you to Tara and Lorraine for organising the week for everyone.
